Bomb Scare at Local Girls School

Mary Curran, principal for Waikato Diocesan School for Girls has confirmed late Friday afternoon the school was evacuated at the recommendation of police after a note was found in a bathroom saying that there was a bomb in the school and that it would be detonated at 2pm. The school went into immediate lockdown while the validity of the note was confirmed, and the school was evacuated shortly before midday.

Mrs. Curran says that the students performed admirably, and although this time it was a hoax, next time it could be a real threat and to see so many students taking care of each other and ensuring that everyone was able to evacuate, even those whose parents were unable to be reached was ‘heartwarming’ and ‘exactly what we are trying to teach our girls’.
